Port Interface
From Pirates and Traders
This the main game interface of Pirates and Traders. It is where you will likely spend the most of your time in the game.
Game Map (1)
This is a depiction of the Caribbean in the 17th Century. You can scroll around the map by panning it with your finger.
Port View
You have arrived in a port. This is where you rest and refit your ship and crew in between cruises in the Caribbean.
To set sail from port, use the BACK button.
Open Port
From the port view, you normally have access to six options:
Governor: Takes you to see the governor who will provide you with the latest information about what is going on in the world and sell you letters of marque. Financial: The financial district is where you will find the moneylenders and bankers. Here you can take out loans if you require cash, as well as repay outstanding loans. You can also share out part of your treasure or spend some of your own gold to fund the expedition. Merchant: This is where you buy and sell the goods in your cargo hold. Shipyard: The shipyard is where you repair damage to your ship. You can also replace lost cannons, improve your ship with various modifications, and purchase new ships. Tavern: The tavern is where you go to hear about the latest rumors. You can also recruit additional crew here. Attack: This option allows you to launch an attack on the port. Note that, depending on your reputation with the owner of the port and the governor, some of the options may be closed to you. If you have a poor reputation in the port, you will also find that the cost of goods and services is significantly increased since no reputable business person will do business with you.
Closed Port
If your reputation is bad enough, you will find that ports start to be closed to you. When the port is closed, you only have two options open to you.
You could try to sneak into port, if you think it is worth the risk. This will require you to pass a Concealment skill check (to sneak in) and - if you fail - a Dexterity skill check to escape. If you get caught, you will no doubt be taken and tried for piracy. Should you succeed, however, you will have made it into the port and can perform the usual actions inside the port.
The alternative is to attack the town.
