Shipyard View

The shipyard is where you refit your ship. There are three different views here from which you can work on improving your ship.

Ship

From this view you can repair any damage to your ship.

Repair: If you have sufficient gold, this can be used to repair your ship. You can use the spinner (selector) next to the repair information to select which element of your ship to repair. "Full" will repair all of the damage on your ship's hull, mast and rigging when you press the Repair button. As an alternative, you can select to repair a specific element on your ship. Each press of the Repair button will repair 1 point of damage, and the total cost of partial repairs will be higher than if you do full repairs. Each 4 points of repair will take 1 day.
Cannons: If you have lost cannons on the ship, you may be able to purchase cannons at the shipyard. Pressing the button purchases one cannon. Each 4 cannons you buy will cost 1 day to mount on your ship.
Mods

This view will allow you to purchase modifications (improvements) for your ship. Pressing the Next button will toggle through the modifications available. These are randomized each time you enter a new port; in addition, you will tend to find that bigger ports have a greater selection available than smaller ports. In addition, some modifications require that your ship has been modified in other ways first.

Press the "Buy" button to purchase the improvement if you can. Note that each modification costs an amount of gold and will usually take up space on your ship. The precise cost will also vary depending on the type of your ship.

Buy

The shipyard may have a new ship that you can purchase. The ships available at the port will depend on the nationality and size of the port; for instance, Fluyts are more likely to be found in Dutch ports, while Galleons are more common in Spanish ports. Some of the more powerful ships can not be purchased.

Note that any modifications that you have made to your existing ship do not transfer when you purchase a new ship.

Pressing the Buy Ship button will sell your existing ship and purchase the offered ship. Purchasing a new ship will take 3 days of time.
