Port Interface/Tavern District
From Pirates and Traders
< Port Interface
The tavern is where you go to pick up jobs, rumors, and crew.
Jobs
Sometimes you may be able to pick up jobs in port. You will usually need to be in good standing with the nation to do so. In addition, if your ship does not have capacity available to handle available jobs, the button will be disabled. Most jobs require between 1 to 10 cargo spaces.
Rumors
For a round of drinks (costing 1 doubloon) you can purchase information about what is going on around the Caribbean. This is how you pick up news about business opportunities and other information about what is going on.
Party
Give your crew some rest and recuperation time; spend some money to make them happy by purchasing rum. If you have rum in your ship holds, you will use that first. Letting your crew lose to party will normally increase crew morale by 0 to 5 morale points, but can also result in other - unexpected - side-effects.
Recruit
If you lack crew members, you may be able to recruit new crew from here. There are two types of recruits available: experienced sailors (experience level 30) and raw recruits (experience level 10). The first time you issue a recruit order, you will only recruit the experienced sailors; to recruit the raw recruits you will need to issue the order again. The crew join you for free; all they want is a share of the plunder. Your existing crew may not be too happy though; each recruiting drive will lower your crew loyalty depending on the number of sailors you recruit. You can avoid this problem by sharing out the treasure prior to carrying out recruitment.
Trouble
This sends your character into the seedier parts of town. This is where you will find jobs such as smuggling missions, hit jobs, and other seedy activities. You may also run into trouble, so make sure that you are prepared before venturing here.
This will share a specified amount of the treasure your ship has accumulated out to your crew (and also to you). The percentage you receive depends on the difficulty setting you have set for the game and your number of ship specialists.
The higher the difficulty, the less your share of the gold is. Each ship specialist that you have on your ship will require a 5% share of the treasure - this share is deducted from your personal share of the treasure.
Only gold in your private treasury counts for your game score.
When sharing plunder, you will need to share at least half of the net worth of your plundered gold and goods in order for your crew to be satisfied. Additional money shared out will boost the morale of your crew, depending on your crew size.
